This is the new home of my One Stop Poetry Responses

The poem below is inspired by the shot above taken by edgy young photographer Lauren Randolph. She is obviously a talent to watch - striking, thought-provoking and more-than-a-little-disturbing images.

Love's Flight
I know you’ll say it’s just like me
To be openly defying gravity
And you’ll wonder if you’re dreaming or at a picture show
As the balloon slumps down and up I go

But my love I’m telling you this is how it is
When I get involved in romantic bliss
My heart feels puffy and full of warm, sweet air
And I become as light and gauzy as angel’s hair

So it’s your choice my love – do you stay or soar
Are you sure your feet are firmly on the floor?
You say you’ve never flown but I say give it a try
Hold my hand tightly and let’s aim for the sky
